Seeking Janey
October 30, 2009
In the last “Adventures of Superbott”, Fred, the detective, found the place in the fence where Janey was taken. Clancy heard Fred talking to John and decided to become Superbott. He called on his inner-self, the 3D hologram, and made a deal with him. He would becoome Superbott if the 3D hologram, whom he named C-Thru, would help him stay with the Franks. Clancy became Superbott. His physique became more human-like. He had to learn how to walk on human legs. He began learning about his Superbott powers. He is able to see visions. He can turn invisible with a special type of sweat. Superbott saw a vision of Janey being abducted. We left off in our story where Superbott is standing by the place in the fence and is having a vision of Janey being abducted…
Superbott saw Janey being abducted in his vision. The perpetrator was a strong, tall man with muscular build and blond wavy hair. Janey was hanging around his neck, asleep, apparently knocked out from some kind of drug. The perpetrator scaled the wall almost effortlessly and dropped to the other side. Superbott saw him go to a waiting car that sped off. Obvjously there was an accomplice. Superbott snapped out of his vision. Suddenly, he saw John and Fred rounding the corner, so he began to sweat. Knowing he was invisible, he listened in.
John said, “So you see, there is no way the security system could have failed.” Fred replied, “Sir, I understand you believe this system is air-tight. Would you please explain to me how the three spikes at the top of the fence were sawed off?” John stared at the top of the fence flabbergasted. “Okay, I see your point. What do we do now?” Fred said, “We need to look for clues. Let’s go to the other side of the fence.” With that, John and Fred took off toward the gate on the other side of the yard. Superbot thought, “Well, I can save a ton of time if I have a Superbot power that will help me get through this fence.”
First he tried running through the fence. “Ouch!” he said, as his body hit it with full force. Then he tried leaping over the fence. More pain! Last he tried imagining a hole in the fence he could walk through. He saw the hole and walked right through! “That was easy!”, he thought, wishing he would have thought of the last idea first.
Superbott walked right to the spot where he envisioned the car speeding off. He scoured the ground for clues. All of a sudden, he snapped into a vision. He envisioned the getaway driver sitting alone in the car. The driver appeared to be reading something. Suddenly, he crumpled a piece of paper into a tight ball, and threw it as far as he could into the woods. Superbot was able to locate the piece of paper. It was a handwritten note that said: Meet me outside the Frank’s place at 305 Woodland Street. Be there at 3pm sharp.”
Normally such information would be useless. But the kidnapper was not very smart. The note had an address printed on it: 305 Woodland Street. While staring at the note, Superbott snapped into another vision. He saw a building; the address was 305 Woodland Street. He thought, “This must be where they took Janey!”. He snapped out of his vision and dropped the note so Fred and John could find it. Then he thought, “Ok, I’ve got to figure out how to get there, fast!”
He tried running and leaping into the air, but he crashed into a tree. He tried snapping his fingers, but just got some strange looks from a few squirrels. Then he remembered what C-Thru said, “Contact me if you need help.” He spun his head around three times, turned upside down until he heard a pop, turned himself over and waited.
C-Thru showed up within five seconds. “Need help?”, he said. “Uh, you could say that. Tell me how to get to 305 Woodland Street fast!” Superbot ordered, with a stern look on his face. C-Thru knew this was no time to make a joke, so he quickly said, “It’s simple. Close your eyes and envision you are there. You will be transported within ten seconds.” “Thanks! I’m on my way.”, Superbott said while closing his eyes.
Once he arrived at 305 Woodland street, the first thing Superbott did was look around. “Okay, I see the main entrance. Let’s see what’s around the back.” Superbott walked around the building, noticing a few windows along the way. He looked in each window as he walked, but did not see or hear anything unusual. He got to the back of the building and paused. Knowing that time was of the essence, he thought, “There has to be a quicker way to find Janey.”
While pondering what to do, Superbott went into a trance. While in the trance, he heard a faint knocking sound. It sounded like someone was knocking on metal, like a metal barrel. Superbott snapped out of the trance and thought, “What I need to do is transport myself to the source of the sound.” He closed his eyes and envisioned himself standing near the metal barrel that made the knocking sound. When he opened his eyes, he was there! He saw a metal 50 gallon drum with holes in the lid. He pried off the lid with superhuman strength and found Janey inside!
“Eeeeeeeeeeeeek”, she shrieked, “Who are you?” “No time for questions”, Superbott said, “Let me get you out of there.” Superbott said as he lifted Janey out of the barrel. “Are you all right?” “Yes, I just want to go home.” she replied. Superbot closed his eyes and imagined the Frank’s home. When he arrived, Janey was not with him. “Oh no!”, he said as he quickly transported himself back. “Where did you go?” Janey said with a puzzled look on her face. “Uh, minor technical difficulty. Let’s try again.”, replied Superbott. This time Superbott envisioned himself and Janey arriving back at the Frank’s home. It worked! He and Janey arrived safely.
Janey said, “I’m home, I’m home! You saved me. What’s your name? How did you find me?” Superbott looked sheepishly at Janey, “My name is Superbott. How I found you is a long story.” Janey said, “Bott is short for robot. Are you a robot?” Superbott was not sure what to do. Should he tell Janey he used to be Clancy? She might be sad to know Clancy was gone. But he really wanted to be Clancy again. He needed to contact C-Thru to find out how to make that happen. Then he remembered the Superbott oath: “I Clancy promise to obey Queen Charise within reason to the benefit of Robotica and the Frank family” He realized he had the upper hand. Since losing Clancy would not benefit the Frank family, he knew he would be able to transform back at will. So he decided to tell Janey everything. When he finished, he said, “Janey, you have to promise not to tell anyone about this. It will be our secret.” Janey smiled and said, “Of course, Superbott. I’m good at keeping secrets.” Janey gave Superbott a big hug and ran off to find her mother.
Superbott immediately called up C-Thru. He thought, “I have got to find a better way to contact this guy besides spinning my head and flipping over.” When C-Thru appeared, he said “Okay C-Thru, we’ve got some work to do. First, tell me how to become Clancy again.” “What? You can’t be Clancy again! When you become Superbott there is no turning back, remember?” “Ahhh, but you forgot I didn’t take the standard Superbot oath. I modified the oath so I could turn back into Clancy. Losing Clancy would not benefit the Frank family. Therefore you must allow me to become Clancy again.”, Superbott explained with the right corner of his lip turned up. “Ok, you got me.” C-Thru said. “To become Clancy again, you just need to envision yourself as Clancy.” “Thanks!” Superbott said, “I should have known it would be so easy. I’m starting to see a trend. Envision and it happens…”
He went on, “Ok, I need a better way to contact you.” C-Thru said, “Oh, that’s easy. When you are Superbott, you just envision me to be present and I’ll show up. When you are Clancy, you are out of luck. You’ll have to do the spinning/standing on head thing.” Superbott said, “Okay, I guess I’m stuck with that, then.” With that, he turned himself back into Clancy and rolled over to the charger base.
Meanwhile, Fred and John came back into the house. They found Janey with her mother and John asked, “What happened?”
Will Janey keep Superbott’s secret? Will Superbott appear again? Will he be asked to save Robotica?
